The town council's indoor markets at Fairway Hall are on Sundays 22 November and 13 December. Last year's December market had a Santa's grotto and live music.

Borehamwood’s Christmas markets are run by Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council, and two 2026 dates are already fixed: Sunday 22 November and Sunday 13 December, both indoors at Fairway Hall. The council has not yet published times for either, or said which one is this year’s Christmas special.

The quick answer

  • Sunday 22 November, Fairway Hall, Brook Close, Borehamwood WD6 5BT: the monthly Farmers and Craft Market, moved indoors.
  • Sunday 13 December, Fairway Hall: the council’s December market. Last year’s December market was a special Christmas market with Santa’s grotto, live music and hot food, from 11am to 5pm.
  • The lights switch-on market, 96 Shenley Road: last year 12pm to 6pm on the switch-on day. The 2026 switch-on is not yet dated; it has fallen on Advent Sunday two years running, which would make it Sunday 29 November.
  • Bushey Museum Arts and Crafts Fair, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November, 11am to 4pm, Rudolph Road, Bushey WD23 3HW.

The Fairway Hall markets: what is confirmed

The council’s Markets page lists the year’s Farmers and Craft Market dates. From April to October the market is outdoors in the Civic Car Park behind Hertsmere’s offices, which the same page also calls Brook Road Car Park, WD6 5HQ, from 10am to 2pm on the fourth Sunday of the month. The last outdoor date this year is Sunday 25 October.

After that the page lists two indoor dates: Sunday 22 November (Fairway Hall) and Sunday 13 December (Fairway Hall). It gives no times for either. The council’s own winter markets earlier this year, on 28 February and 28 March, ran from 10am to 4pm at Fairway Hall, but that is not a promise for November.

The council describes the market as local produce, artisan bread, cheeses, olives and jams, homeware, jewellery and gifts, hot food with seating, often live music, and free activities and competitions for children.

What last year’s Christmas market looked like

The council’s winter 2025 Town Crier, issue 51, set out the 2025 programme. Its “special Christmas Market” was held inside Fairway Hall on Sunday 7 December 2025, 11am to 5pm, “featuring Santa’s Grotto, live music, hot food and festive market stalls for all the family”. The same issue listed the Christmas lights switch-on with an indoor Christmas market at 96 Shenley Road on Sunday 30 November, 12pm to 6pm.

This year the December date has moved to the 13th. Whether it carries the same grotto and longer hours will be in the council’s winter magazine, which last year came out in November. We will update this page when it does.

The switch-on market at 96 Shenley Road

The town’s other market comes with the lights. In both 2024 and 2025 the switch-on was on Advent Sunday at All Saints Church, Shenley Road, with an indoor Christmas market next door at 96 Shenley Road from 12pm to 6pm, a free grotto and free ice skating. Advent Sunday 2026 is 29 November, but the council has not confirmed it. Everything known is on our Christmas lights switch-on page, including Radlett’s Winter Fair at the Radlett Centre, which has its own stalls inside the auditorium.

Bushey: the museum’s Arts and Crafts Fair

The Friends of Bushey Museum hold their Arts and Crafts Fair on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November, 11am to 4pm, at Bushey Museum, Rudolph Road, Bushey WD23 3HW, with local artisans selling their work and refreshments on the Saturday morning (Friends of Bushey Museum). It is the earliest Christmas shopping fixture in the borough this year.

What is not on this page

Potters Bar and Bushey have no town or parish council, and we found no first-party listing for a Christmas market in either town. A local food vendor’s advert in the Town Crier mentions an “Imperial Place Christmas Market” in Borehamwood last year, but no organiser has published anything about it that we can link to, so we have left it out. If you run one, tell us at hello@borehamwoodpost.co.uk.

For Santa visits on other days, the Aldenham Country Park grotto is on sale now, and both pantomimes are listed on our pantomime page.

Getting there and parking

Fairway Hall is at Brook Close, Borehamwood WD6 5BT. Hertsmere’s car park charges and the Sunday rules are on our parking page, and any closures in the town centre are on the roadworks and travel page.
